Sairek Ceareste
"I am shackled by the binds of my nobility."
Sairek is the Prince of the Ceareste kingdom. His birth was a troubling one, as the Queen, Melina Ceareste, fell ill when he was still in her womb, due to strange circumstances during the third century ceremony that was celebrating three-hundred years without war at Yggdrasil's shrine; a very large event celebrated by all four kingdom leaders.
Though
Melina survived for a couple more years, it seemed that Sairek's birth
sapped most of her strength, her decline was gradual until she
eventually died by the time Sairek was only nearing his fourth birthday. Sairek only has vague memories of her, though what he does recall through these hazy recollections was someone who was sweet and loving to him, despite her situation. Her love is something he still yearns for, even eight years later.
The
death of his wife changed his father, Aayron Ceareste, and this has
affected Sairek's relationship with his father as well. Though the first
couple of years were not 'awful', as he began to grow older, Sairek began to feel that his father resented him in some way, as if he was the reason
his mother died; something he fears is unfortunately true, even though
it is obvious he wasn't the one who caused her to get sick considering
he hadn't even been born yet, he believes his birth weakened her to the point that she couldn't recover.
His relationship with his father has
only continued to decline. Sairek has expressed how he doesn't
really like being a Prince, how he wants to go outside, socialize like a
normal boy, and make friends -- to live, instead of being trapped within their castle walls, forever being sheltered, as well as
expressing that he doesn't like being treated as if he's special in comparison to normal people. All things his father does not like to hear.
Their
relationship has become a terrible game of trying to "one-up" one
another passive-aggressively, with Sairek having a huge disadvantage.
With his mother's death, he may be second-in-command, but his father
rules all, and he actually has very little say in anything.
Nearing
his twelfth birthday, this will be the time where every and all
responsibilities that come with a Prince will be levied onto Sairek to
prepare him to rule the kingdom one day; a prospect he fears immensely.
The days have started to become more laborious for him already, and his father
even more demanding and stricter with punishments for any of Sairek's "antics". He is expected to cast magic by this point, but he
can't do it alone without his Yggdrasil staff, making him extremely far behind in
his father's expectations, often causing him to have to serve his
father's punishments even more.

Varhi
A
strange child who works as a mercenary, despite his age of twelve. Though
children can normally start working for the military at twelve years
old as squires, basically receiving training in some kingdoms until they
become adults to which they could take the battlefield proper, Varhi
has managed to evade this somehow.
Currently, he works as a mercenary
at Masirean, bypassing the age and squire requirements with a loophole
using his freelancer position and the fact he refused Masirean
citizenship in order to work for the military in a temporary capacity. He sometimes meets with King Masirean himself, who doesn't seem to mind
this loophole that much if it gives him results, apparently. It could be that the loophole was made on purpose; after all, in Varhi's mind, many involved in the royal families craft laws and make rules to serve them at the end of the day. Regardless, Varhi
guarantees results.
One who gauges him just for his size and youth alone will be in trouble. Varhi carries a greatsword around and although it has been lightened and manufactured for his smaller size, he swings it with expert efficiency and deadliness like it weighs nothing. His strength is difficult to rival, his constitution is even further unmatched and his determination at getting a job done and living to see the next sun rise makes him a reckoning force that is nearly impossible to halt.
Despite
working for a King for a country he's not even a civilian for, and taking orders for said King to go on missions, Varhi seems to hate royalty, and despises the definition of "laws" and their
"justice" systems even more, but his morality
seems to be quite grey—seemingly taking on any job, even if the legality
is of a somewhat questionable nature and yet he is also not against
going against his "employer" if he doesn't respect them, too. Varhi always gets a job done as requested, but he may end up doing it in 'his own way'. Whether that be delivering a message and reading the classified contents himself, or stopping a criminal and handing them in alive, but leaving them unable to talk. When and how he does it seems to be based on what he personally thinks of the job and why he is being hired to do it, as well as his employer.
He
is sassy, but while not outright rude, he is generally disrespectful to
most peers, sometimes talking down to them or at least elevating himself to their level despite his often legitimately lower position, and he has no trouble speaking what he thinks of them, whether good or bad. When other people point out his juvenile behavior, it seems to only
amuse him and make him smirk, but his otherwise strangely empty eyes do not share the same amusement, almost like he's simply acting his responses out and pretending to act out this way for some other purpose...
